Basic Noodle Bake, Additions Welcomed Recipe

Yummy comfort food casserole to which you can add what you'd like, e.g., early peas, broccoli, tuna, ham bits, chopped bacon, etc.

I love the basic recipe with meat loaf and green beans.

  • 12 oz. package "No Yolk" wide noodles, Skinner Dumplings, or other noodles
  • tsp. oil
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup each: sour cream, small curd cottage cheese, shredded Provolone or Italian cheese blend (divided), 4 oz. soft cream cheese
  • 1 tbs. scallions, chopped
  • 2 tbs. melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp.salt
  • 1/2 tsp.garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. chopped parsley
  • dash Wocestershire
  • topping: paprika, or crushed potato chips
  • note: add a can of cream of something soup, and coipe of cans of water packed tune, chopped ham, chicken, or turkey.

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350 F.
  2. Cook noodles according to package directions for "al dente" in salted water with the oil.
  3. Drain, rinse with cold water.
  4. Toss with melted butter and salt.
  5. In a bowl, mix other ingredients together, holding back 1/2 of the shredded cheese.
  6. Pour in a 2 qt. baking dish, top with rest of cheese and paprika.
  7. Cover and bake 20 minutes.
  8. Uncover and bake another 5 minutes.

      If I make this, I have to invite friends to eat most of it, or I will.
