Half & Half Whole Wheat Bread (Machine or Hand-made) by Salad FoodieWell it's NEARLY half and half (whole wheat flour and white bread flour.) This makes a 2-pound loaf of bread though you can bake it in two 1-pound loaf pans and freeze one..or smaller pans as you wish. At high altitudes, decrease yeast a little (1/2 teaspoon) and increase water (1 to 2 tablespoons.) |

Pumpkin Nut Bread with Streusel Topping by Salad FoodieThe comforting smell of fall and winter is in the air as you bake this crunchy and moist pumpkin spice bread. Make the whole loaf for the family or divide into smaller loaf pans for gifting. I love to have an extra loaf in the freezer for those days you just "need something." |

Cornbread Waffles by Salad FoodieNecessity is the mother of invention. In this instance I am going into the second month of home remodeling life without a kitchen. We either eat cereal, eat out or use small kitchen appliances to cook or heat up food. When given a container of homemade chili recently, I decided to try cooking my favorite cornbread recipe in the… |

Buttermilk Banana Bread by Salad FoodieDoes the world need another banana bread recipe? I thought not, until one day I had not only ripe bananas to use up but also buttermilk. It was a culinary match made in heaven. I love the sublime texture and moistness that buttermilk imbues. This is a more tender grain than most nutbreads so I highly recommend making it ahead and… |

Leftover Oatmeal Raisin Nut Muffins by Salad FoodieLeftover cooked oatmeal joins basic quickbread ingredients to make a delicious batch of muffins. Rather than wasting excess cooked oatmeal, freeze in measured batches for using up in baked goods such as this recipe. It's surprising what a win/win this can turn out to be. |

Sour Cream Streusel Muffins by Salad FoodieA personal-size coffee cake in a muffin - these are seriously addicting! Increase the streusel topping if you’re crazy about the heavenly crunch on top (1 ½ times streusel topping ingredients should do it.) Be prepared for these gems to disappear quickly. |

Whole Wheat Sandwich Thins (with bread machine dough option) by Salad FoodieWhole wheat, bran and honey - a perfect threesome! Regular hamburger buns and even bread slices at times have too much bread volume for me, so I often turn to commercial sandwich thins. When I tried this recipe from breadworld.com it enabled me to have… |

Banana and Granola Muffins by Salad FoodieYou can have breakfast in a muffin with your choice of ingredients. Make these with walnuts, almonds or pecans; select raisins, dried cranberries or coconut, and use your favorite granola flavor. If you wish to substitute buttermilk in place of regular, as I often do in baked products, see Useful Link below that I will be posting. |

Caraway Rye Rolls or Sliders by Salad FoodiePerfect as rolls, or as sliders for corned beef sandwiches. Bake them apart on baking sheets for sliders, or in a 9 x 13 baking pan for pan rolls. I used a bread machine on the dough setting, then shaped, and baked in oven, but you can also make these in the conventional yeast roll method without a bread machine. |

Overnight Refrigerator Yeast Rolls by Salad FoodieRefrigerator yeast rolls are the answer to busy days and holiday dinners. Divide the roll making process into two days and three steps: make, shape and bake! This is based on a recipe from bhg.com, which has a few variations using this method (see "Useful Links" below). I stayed fairly close to the original recipe, though lazy me,… |
