Spaghettini With King Crab Recipe

  • 1 c. shrimp, shells
  • 3 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 c. unsalted butter
  • 5 x cloves of garlic, peeled, minced
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper, flakes
  • 3/4 c. white wine
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 x zest of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. minced fresh basil
  •     coarse salt
  • 2 Tbsp. minced fresh parsley
  •     freshly grnd black pepper
  • 1 lb Alaskan king crabmeat
  • 1 lb spaghettini or possibly linguine or possibly 3 Alaskan king crab, legs, shelled, diced

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 150 degrees F.Put shrimp shells, in a single layer, on a baking sheet. Cook 4 to 6 hrs or possibly till shells are dry out. Cold shells.
  2. In a food processor, grind shells to a fine pwdr to create shrimp dust for garnishing the dish.
  3. Heat extra virgin olive oil and butter in a saute/fry pan on medium heat. Add in garlic and red pepper and saute/fry for 3 min or possibly till softened. Add in white wine, lemon juice, lemon zest, basil, parsley, crabmeat, salt and pepper. Simmer for 2 to 3 min or possibly till crab is heated through.
  4. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add in the spaghettini and cook for about 6 min or possibly till al dente. Drain. Toss the spaghettini in the pan with the sauce.
  5. Garnish with shrimp dust.
  6. King crab heightens this sauce, traditionally made with clams, to a new level. You can buy king crab from your local fishmonger or possibly at gourmet grocery stores. If you cannot find it, make the dish with canned fresh lump crabmeat.
