Warm Brussles Sprouts Salad with Almonds and Parmesan by Nancy MiyasakiI adapted this from a Oprah recipe. She makes the salad with raw brussel sprouts. I couldn't quite trust that, so I blanched them lightly before slicing. This produced a delcious and slightly warm salad. I should have tried some raw and some cooked to see which method is best. Maybe one of you can do that and let us know? |

Swedish Oatmeal Pancakes by John SpottiswoodI love my wife's traditional swedish pancake recipe. However, I feel much better when I eat a healthy breakfast of oatmeal, so I tried combining the two. I think the combination is wonderful. It still has the chewy, crepe-like texture of the traditional swedish pancake, with just a bit of nutty whole grain texture. Our kids say… |

Korean potato side dish by John SpottiswoodI always love these sweet and salty braised potatoes when they are served along with kimchi and various other side dishes at korean restaurants. I've always wanted to make them, and grilling Galbi gave me the perfect opportunity. I started with a recipe from maangchi.com and substituted a mix of sugar and mirin for the corn syrup… |

Rajma (Kidney Bean Curry) with Spinach by Chitra AgrawalRajma is a North Indian curry of kidney beans cooked with onions, tomatoes and spices. "Rajma chawal" which just means rajma and rice is the most popular way to eat this curry, kind of like the Indian version of rice and beans. I liken rajma also to chili since it's cooked in a spicy tomato gravy. Usually, it's not made with spinach… |

Squash In A Spice Paste Done Pronto! by kathy goriThis has been one hell of a week, one of those 7 day stretches that includes everything on lifes' smorgey...except dental. Honey-Ginger Glazed Carrots by John SpottiswoodThis is a standard side dish for us when we're serving an asian-inspired meal. It's also great with any grilled meat. The honey brings out the natural sweetness of the carrots and the ginger gives a bit of spice to balance the sweetness. Orange zest and juice gives a nice acidity to the dish. If you make this, it will likely become… |
