South Carolina Barbecue Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
- 1Â 1/4 c. ketchup
- 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp. prepared mustard
- 1/2 c. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 c. lemon juice
- 1/4 c. water
- 1 x clove garlic, chopped
- 1/4 c. butter (1/2 stick or possibly 4 Tbsp.)
Directions
- In a saucepan, mix ketchup, sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, water, garlic and butter. Simmer 15 to 20 min over low heat.
- Note: Although Dotty Griffin doesn't include them, many Texas sauces contain jalapenos.
