Happy New Year - 2016!
We spent a quiet evening, at home, making Swiss Fondue with a bottle of chilled Prosecco. I made our traditional dinner of tender Filet Mignon, fresh veggies and falling asleep long before midnight. I wouldn't want it any other way. New Year's Day is our 10th wedding anniversary, and that's when we go out to dinner to celebrate. I wouldn't want that any other way!

,%20then%20pour%20over%20a%20custard%20of%20milk,%20maple%20syrup%20and%20vanilla.%20Cover%20it%20in%20plastic%20wrap,%20with%20a%20plate%20weighing%20it%20down.%2015%20minutes...tops!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20morning,%20I%20covered%20the%20casserole%20with%20foil%20(after%20letting%20it%20come%20to%20room%20temperature%20for%2030%20minutes),%20and%20popped%20it%20into%20a%20350F%20degree%20oven%20for%2030%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20the%20meantime,%20I%20made%20a%20blueberry%20sauce,%20with%20the%20leftover%20frozen%20berries.%20%20I%20added%20a%20little%20Meyer%20lemon%20zest,%20since%20our%20tree%20has%20been%20most%20generous%20with%20us--%20despite%20the%20drought!%20(Kudos%20to%20my%20husband's%20green%20thumb%20and%20diligence%20in%20covering%20it%20up%20during%20those%20cold%20frosty%20mornings.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%2030%20minutes%20of%20baking,%20I%20removed%20the%20foil%20and%20let%20it%20baked%20until%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Egolden%20brown,%20and%20the%20center%20was%20set%20(the%20ole%20toothpick%20test.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBreakfast%20is%20ready,%20as%20soon%20as%20I%20spoon%20the%20blueberry%20sauce%20on%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(That%20chunk%20of%20melted%20cream%20cheese%20has%20my%20name%20all%20over%20it.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EExtra%20blueberry%20sauce%20for%20my%20husband.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20brioche%20bread%20is%20moist,%20but%20not%20soggy.%20%20We're%20hungry!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETASTING%20NOTES:%20%20I'm%20not%20the%20biggest%20fan%20of%20blueberries.%20%20But,%20this%20is%20a%20game%20changer,%20for%20me!%20%20First,%20please%20be%20aware%20that%20the%20casserole%20is%20like%20molten%20lava%20at%20first%20bite,%20so%20be%20careful!%20%20(Speaking%20from%20experience).%20%20There%20are%20notes%20of%20vanilla,%20and%20I%20liked%20the%20subtle%20flavor%20of%20cinnamon.%20%20(It%20sure%20smelled%20fantastic%20as%20it%20was%20baking.)%20%20The%20perfect%20bite%20was%20the%20%22custardy%22%20bread,%20cream%20cheese%20and%20a%20mouthful%20of%20blueberry%20syrup.%20Heaven!%20%20My%20husband%20wanted%20seconds,%20and%20raved%20about%20how%20good%20this%20was.%20%20That's%20the%20kind%20of%20affirmation%20that%20I%20need%20to%20quickly%20write%20down%20how%20I%20made%20this.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20have%20dinner%20reservations%20for%20tonight%20to%20eat%20at%20a%20restaurant,%20in%20Monterey,%20where%20Clint%20Eastwood%20has%20a%20movie%20scene%20in%20a%20movie%20made%20in%20the%20.%20%20It's%20touristy,%20but%20my%20niece%20works%20there.%20That%20will%20make%20our%20ten%20year%20anniversary%20even%20more%20enjoyable.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWishing%20all%20of%20you%20a%20wonderful%20New%20Year.%20%20I%20feel%20very%20blessed%20in%20my%20marriage,%20career,%20motherhood%20and%20look%20forward%20to%20sharing%20more%20cooking%20and%20baking%20with%20you.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
