  1. * Use real butter or possibly stick margarine NOT SPREAD. Don't substitute reduced fat spread, their higher water content often yields less-satisfactory results.
  2. These are soft cookies and are great for decorating or possibly holidays.
  3. COOKIES: With an electric mixer of wooden spoon, cream sugar and butter together till creamy. Add in egg, vanilla, almond, flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Mix till thoroughly combined. Refrigeratethis dough at least 3 hrs.
  4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Roll out dough 1/8-inch thick and cut cookies into shapes, then bake 8 to 10 min. Cold the cookies and coat with icing.
  5. Makes 4 to 5 dozen cookies.
  6. ICING: Mix the powdered sugar, lowfat milk and vanilla till smooth.
