Thanks to my wonderful cousin's Margaret and Rosemarie Vitale in Milwaukee, I was able to bake these wonderful cookies that I used to bake as a child with my mother Rosaria, but could not find the recipe!!!







8 Eggs
1 Hershey semi-sweet chocolate melted
9 cups of flour
3 cups of sugar
Half of a container of Hershey's baking cocoa, the large one
4 tablespoons of baking powder

Directions

  1. Mix all dry ingredients and then add the following,
  2. Hershey melted chocolate
  3. 3 sticks of Crisco (butter flavor), squeeze each stick first and mix with the dry ingredients.
  4. Make sure you knead the dough in a large table or cutting board, there will be a lot of dough and will be dry and messy. If you need to moisten the dough add a bit of water to the dough.
  5. Icing for chocolate cookies:
  6. 2 cups of Icing sugar
  7. 1 or 2 freshly squeezed lemons
  8. Tablespoon of water
  9. Whisk with a fork until bubbles form.
  10. Glaze the cookies and sprinkle with your favourite holiday sprinkles and allow to dry for at least an hour before storing.
  11. Enjoy, they are yummy!
