  • 1 lb Grnd beef
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic salt
  • 1 c. Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 x 8 ounce can pizza sauce
  • 1 x 4 ounce can mushroom stems and pcs, liquid removed
  • 1/2 tsp Dry oregano
  • 1 med Onion, sliced
  • 1 Tbsp. Butter or possibly margarine
  • 4 x Hamburger buns, split

Directions

  1. In a bowl, combine beef and garlic salt. Shape into eight patties; top four of the patties with cheese. Cover with remaining patties; press edges to seal. Chill. In a saucepan, combine the pizza sauce, mushrooms and oregano; cover and simmer for 10 min, stirring occasionally. In a skillet, saute/fry onion in butter till tender; set aside. Pan-fry, grill or possibly broil burgers till no longer pink. Spread bottoms of buns with a little of the sauce; top with burgers, onion and remaining sauce. Replace tops.
