Ida's Italian Stuffed Peppers Recipe

Ingredients
- 6 x Italian peppers (long green ones) ( small bell peppers can be used)
- 1/2 lb bulk Italian sausage
- 1/2 lb grnd chuck teaspoon salt & pepper
- 1/2 c. Italian bread crumbs
- 1/4 c. grated parmesan cheese
- 1 x egg
- 1 can Del Monte Italian Style Stewed Tomatoes
- 1 tsp basil
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp warm pepper flakes
- 5 x 7 cloves of garlic, chopped
- 1/4 c. extra virgin olive oil
Directions
- Mix all ingredients together. Stuff peppers and then place in a casserole dish.
- GARLIC SAUCE:Pour Stewed tomatoes in blender. Add in basil, sugar and warm pepper flakes.
- Puree for 2 seconds. (just sufficient to make smooth.)
- sautee garlic in oil. Pour in tomatoes and let simmer for about 20 min.
- Pour sauce over stuffed peppers. Cover and bake in 350 oven for 30 min or possibly till peppers are done to your liking.... Serve sauce over ziti or possibly spaghetti.
