Great Aunt Hester's Orange Pie Recipe

Ingredients
- Unbaked lower crust
- 2 Tbsp. Butter
- 1 c. Sugar
- 4 x Slightly beaten Large eggs
- 1 dsh Salt Grated rind of 1 orange
- 2 x Oranges , juice of
- 1 c. Cream, whipped
Directions
- I found this recipe in "America Cooks", a book published in 1940 and this is just how it was printed:(Found in a diary dated 1801)
- Into an unbaked lower crust pour the following mix: cream 2 Tbsp. butter with 1 c. sugar. Add in 4 slightly beaten Large eggs and a dash of salt, grated rind of 1 orange, and juice of 2 oranges. (The size of Large eggs and oranges doesn't seem to make any difference.). When well mixed, mix in 1 c. cream, whipped. Bake 25 min in medium oven. Test with knife, a'la custard.
