I had this chili during an pot luck office party and used it ever since. I found it can be added to and still remain easy to fix. The original was is just a one-one-one ingredient list. I've added a few other ingredients here. It uses canned pork and beans, which I've found don't cause the unwanted side effects. At least for me.

Ingredients

Cost per serving $1.01 view details
  • 1 pound ground meat (usually beef, but can mix with pork)
  • 1 packet any brand prepared Chili mix
  • 1 small can Pork 'n Beans (Campbells seems to work best)
  • That's it, but if your tastes are exotic, you might try adding:
  • 1/2 cup frozen or fresh corn
  • 1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 cup red wine
  • Salt and pepper to taste. Add additional spices to your liking. But, the main recipe is good as is.

Directions

  1. Brown meat in sauce pan, pour off excess grease.
  2. Blend in packet of Chili mix
  3. Pour meat and seasoning into sauce pan
  4. Add Pork 'n Beans
  5. Cook until heated, approx 10 to 15 minutes.
  6. Add any or all of the extra ingredients above, or your own. To increase the amount of this recipe just double or triple the first three ingredients, noting to increase the amount of the extras.

As the author of this recipe, I'd like to think it has only 25 calories, but I really think it has more. The detailed view shows 156, which is more than the 25 listed. I've gone onto other recipies and found odd calorie figures. I wanted to try one, but at the stated 14,000+ for one serving, I was hesitant. Maybe the software needs twiking.
