Caramel Apple Poke Cake Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 yellow cake mix AND ingredients called for on package (such as eggs, oil, water)
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 3 cups shredded apples (about 4 large, or 5 small apples)
- 1 cup flour
- 14 oz. sweetened condensed milk
- 19 oz. butterscotch caramel sauce (I used Smucker’s)
- 8 oz. cool whip
- 30 mini size Caramel Apple Milky Ways, quartered

.%20%20I%20frequently%20ask%20for%20it%20for%20my%20birthday%20because%20I%20love%20it%20so%20much.%20%20I%20decided%20that%20I%20wanted%20to%20try%20to%20recreate%20that%20recipe%20using%20apples%20(because%20I%20know%20that%20caramel%20and%20apples%20go%20together%20just%20about%20as%20well%20as%20milk%20and%20cookies).%20%20%20I%20tried%20it,%20and%20OH%20BOY%20was%20it%20a%20success!!%20%20I%20took%20it%20with%20me%20to%20a%20family%20gathering,%20and%20it%20was%20quite%20a%20hit.%20%20I%20only%20ended%20up%20making%20it%20once%20last%20year,%20but%20ever%20since%20then%20I%E2%80%99ve%20been%20thinking%20about%20it.%20%20Unfortunately%20you%20can%E2%80%99t%20make%20this%20cake%20exactly%20as%20called%20for%20in%20the%20recipe%20year-round%20because%20there%20are%20seasonal%20ingredients%20(can%20someone%20please%20ask%20them%20to%20make%20Caramel%20Apple%20Milky%20Ways%20all%20year?!).%20%20But%20it%20wouldn%E2%80%99t%20be%20hard%20at%20all%20to%20substitute%20the%20Milky%20Ways%20for%20something%20else%20%E2%80%93%20like%20Snickers%20bars,%20chopped%20nuts,%20M&Ms%20or%20even%20plain%20Milky%20Ways.%20%20Whatever%20you%20would%20top%20your%20caramel%20apple%20with,%20you%20can%20top%20this%20cake%20with%20as%20well!%20%20When%20I%20told%20my%20husband%20this%20fall%20that%20I%20was%20planning%20to%20make%20this%20cake%20again,%20he%20was%20beyond%20ecstatic!%20%20He%20normally%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20remember%20things%20like%20a%20cake%20a%20year%20later,%20but%20he%20definitely%20remembered%20this%20one!%20%20The%20whole%20time%20I%20was%20making%20it,%20he%20was%20asking%20me%20if%20it%20was%20done%20yet%20%20%20And%20then%20he%20had%20to%20wait%20for%20me%20to%20take%20pictures%20of%20it.%20%20What%20a%20tough%20life%E2%80%A6%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20Mix%20cake%20mix%20according%20to%20package%20directions.%20Stir%20in%20cinnamon.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20Mix%20together%20apples%20and%20flour%20(it%20will%20be%20kind%20of%20mushy,%20but%20this%20prevents%20the%20cake%20from%20being%20too%20soggy).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.%20Mix%20apples%20and%20cake%20batter%20together.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4.%20Pour%20batter%20into%20a%20greased%209%C3%9713%20pan.%20%20Bake%20according%20to%20package%20directions,%20adding%20about%2010-20%20min%20to%20the%20cooking%20time%20(or%20until%20a%20toothpick%20inserted%20near%20the%20center%20comes%20out%20clean).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E5.%20Remove%20cake%20from%20the%20oven%20and%20allow%20to%20cool%20slightly.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E6.%20Meanwhile,%20in%20a%20LARGE%20microwave-safe%20bowl,%20mix%20together%20the%20sweetened%20condensed%20milk%20and%20caramel%20sauce.%20%20Microwave%20for%206%20minutes,%20stirring%20at%20least%20every%20minute%20(make%20sure%20it%20is%20in%20a%20large%20bowl,%20or%20it%20WILL%20overflow!)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E7.%20Poke%20holes%20in%20the%20cake%20with%20the%20end%20of%20a%20wooden%20spoon,%20and%20pour%20caramel%20sauce%20over%20the%20cake.%20%20Place%20cake%20in%20the%20fridge%20and%20allow%20cake%20and%20caramel%20to%20cool%20completely.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E8.%20Once%20cake%20is%20completely%20cooled,%20top%20with%20cool%20whip,%20then%20Milky%20Ways.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E9.%20Optional:%20drizzle%20some%20additional%20caramel%20sauce%20on%20top%20as%20an%20extra%20garnish.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E10.%20Serve%20and%20enjoy!%20%20Refrigerate%20any%20leftovers.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
