Ingredients
- 150 gm jaggery grated
- 60 gm tamarind pulp diluted in 3 Tbsp. of water
- 4 Tbsp. dry dates minced
- Â Â Large healthy pinch chilli pwdr
- 1/2 tsp cumin pwdr
- 1/2 tsp rock salt
- Â Â extra salt if needed
Directions
- Bring the jaggery and tamarind to a boil and simmer over a low heat till the mix turns shiny and the jaggery is completely melted.
- If the mix starts to get too dry and sticky add in more water.
- Add in all the rest of the ingredients.
- Simmer for 5 min.
- Cold and serve at room temperature.
- A sweet and sour dish which provide a change of taste in a simple meal. Goes with virtually anything from samosas to dumplings in lowfat yoghurt. It is made in every part of India to accompany different dishes.
