I made a 1954 recipe coffee cake this past week-end...and it came out okay, (yeast-base), except that it was realy dry. I did everything right...then someone recommended that I use a pan of water under-neathe while the bread is baking in order to keep it moist. that person told me her grandmother used that for all her yeast-based recipes for a no-fail result. Anyone eles do this?

A lemon mix sounds like a really good flavor for this recipe! :D
