Last year, I had the good fortune of being introduced to the quaint West Village gem Bell Book and Candle (BBC). Although that visit only consisted of drinks, their whimsically quirky named cocktails had me dying to experience more of this place.

.%20Although%20that%20visit%20only%20consisted%20of%20drinks,%20their%20whimsically%20quirky%20named%20cocktails%20had%20me%20dying%20to%20experience%20more%20of%20this%20place.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPhoto:%20BBCLast%20week,%20I%20finally%20found%20my%20chance.%20After%20spending%20all%20afternoon%20day%20drinking%20Honey%20Deuces%20and%20on%20the%20edge%20of%20our%20seats%20at%20the%20US%20Open,%20the%20mister%20and%20I%20needed%20a%20low%20key%20and%20relatively%20healthy%20way%20to%20end%20our%20night%20-%20Bell%20Book%20and%20Candle%20was%20obviously%20the%20perfect%20option.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESorry%20Not%20Sorry%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20started%20the%20night%20with%20a%20drink%20-%20even%20though%20we%20were%20filled%20to%20the%20gills%20with%20the%20Goose,%20there%20was%20no%20way%20we%20could%20pass%20up%20at%20least%20one%20of%20these%20creative%20concoctions.%20Looking%20through%20their%20cocktail%20list,%20I%20finally%20decided%20on%20the%20silent%20but%20deadly%20Sorry%20Not%20Sorry%20($14),%20a%20basil%20infused%20watermelon%20juice%20number%20that%20masked%20a%20strong%20shot(s?)%20of%20Tito's.%20I'm%20truly%20sorry%20but%20not%20sorry,%20so%20much%20for%20a%20low%20key%20evening...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EZucchini%20Flowers%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBBC%20is%20cooly%20unique%20because%20Chef%20and%20owner%20John%20Mooney%20actually%20grows%20most%20of%20the%20vegetables/fruits/herbs%20used%20in%20the%20dishes%20on%20a%20aeroponic%20roof-top%20tower%20garden%20at%20the%20top%20of%20the%20restaurant.%20Two%20appetizers%20on%20the%20menu%20that%20really%20highlight%20the%20freshness%20of%20these%20ingredients%20are%20the%20Heirloom%20Tomato%20Salad%20with%20rooftop%20grown%20Basil%20($12)%20and%20the%20Zucchini%20Blossoms%20stuffed%20with%20goat%20cheese%20and%20wild%20mushrooms%20($10).%20Both%20dishes%20were%20clean%20and%20fresh,%20like%20it%20came%20straight%20out%20of%20my%20Grandmother's%20kitchen.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeirloom%20Tomato%20Salad%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESince%20I%20was%20so%20impressed%20by%20the%20quality%20and%20flavor%20of%20the%20veggies%20in%20the%20apps,%20I%20knew%20I%20had%20to%20taste%20more%20of%20the%20garden.%20For%20my%20entree,%20I%20ordered%20the%20Grilled%20and%20Roasted%20Seasonal%20Vegetable%20plate%20($18),%20a%20colorful%20medley%20of%20%20roasted%20cherry%20tomatoes,%20bell%20peppers,%20sliced%20zucchini%20and%20stuffed%20artichoke%20served%20with%20a%20flavorful%20romesco%20sauce.%20I%20felt%20healthier%20just%20looking%20at%20my%20plate.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERoasted%20Veg%20Plate%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20dessert,%20I%20was%20quasi%20bad%20and%20went%20in%20for%20the%20cute%20as%20a%20button%20mini%20chocolate%20chip%20cookie%20ice%20cream%20sandwiches%20($9).%20The%20presentation%20was%20incredibly%20festive,%20with%20matching%20mini%20squeegee%20bottles%20of%20caramel%20and%20chocolate%20sauce%20to%20enhance%20the%20already%20delicious%20sandwiches.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMini%20Ice%20Cream%20Sandwiches%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBBC%20serves%20high%20quality%20food%20that's%20simple%20and%20unpretentious%20but%20with%20very%20rich%20and%20interesting%20flavors.%20So%20if%20you%20are%20looking%20for%20good%20food%20in%20a%20place%20with%20a%20relaxed%20yet%20still%20hip%20vibe,%20Bell%20Book%20and%20Candle%20is%20the%20place%20to%20be.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBell%20Book%20and%20Candle%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E141%20W%2010th%20Street%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENew%20York,%20NY%2010014%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(212)%20414-2355%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ebbandcnyc.com%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECuisine:%20American%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
