Kung Pao Chicken; doggie update Recipe

- 2 chicken breasts, boneless, skinless, cut into bite-size pieces
- 1/2 medium leek, sliced
- 1/2 cup unsalted peanuts
- 4oz (120gr) water chestnuts, sliced
- 8oz (240gr) fresh spinach
- 3 tsp minced ginger
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tbs light soy sauce
- 4 tbs mirin
- 2 tsp Balsamic vinegar
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- 3 tsp cornstarch
- 1/3 cup (3oz, 90ml) chicken stock
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 2 tsp olive oil

.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20lightly%20toasted%20remove%20and%20add%20to%20chicken%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20remaining%20sesame%20oil%20to%20skillet%20and%20heat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%202%20tsp%20garlic,%201%20tbs%20mirin%20and%20spinach.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStir-fry%20until%20spinach%20is%20just%20starting%20to%20wilt.%20Remove%20to%20a%20platter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20remaining%20olive%20oil,%20leek,%20remaining%20garlic,%20ginger,%20water%20chestnuts%20and%20stir-fry%202%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EReturn%20chicken%20and%20peanuts%20to%20skillet%20and%20heat%20through.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGive%20the%20cornstarch/soy%20sauce%20a%20stir%20to%20recombine%20and%20add%20it%20to%20the%20pan,%20stirring%20constantly%20until%20thickened.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpoon%20on%20to%20the%20spinach%20and%20serve.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20was%20nice%20today%E2%80%A6.%20sunny%20and%20warm.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20girls%20were%20resting%20on%20the%20soft%20grass%20after%20our%20training%20sessions.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20seemed%20a%20good%20time%20for%20their%20official%20%E2%80%98Third%20Birthday%E2%80%99%20photo.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpeaking%20of%20training%E2%80%A6..%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20we%20are%20%E2%80%98working%E2%80%99%20they%20are%20both%20very%20good%20about%20sitting%20and%20staying%20and%20coming%20when%20called.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20we%E2%80%99re%20not%20%E2%80%98working%E2%80%99%20they%E2%80%99re%20a%20bit%20less%20obedient.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOur%20favorite%20game%20/%20training%20session%20involves%20me%20telling%20them%20to%20stay,%20then%20walking%20a%20bit%20and%20tossing%20a%20piece%20of%20kibble%20into%20the%20field.%20I%20tell%20them%20to%20%E2%80%98fetch%E2%80%99%20and%20they%20go%20searching%20for%20it.%20They%20find%20it,%20eat%20it,%20then%20come%20running%20back%20to%20me%20and%20get%20another%20piece%20of%20kibble.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20Guapa%20on%20lizard%20patrol%E2%80%A6.%20the%20lizards%20like%20to%20be%20on%20the%20sunny%20walls%20of%20the%20house.%20Guapa%20thinks%20it%E2%80%99s%20her%20duty%20to%20make%20certain%20none%20of%20them%20actually%20get%20to%20rest%20on%20the%20wall.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20this%20is%20Bonnie,%20waiting%20for%20me%20to%20take%20the%20photo%20so%20she%20can%20finish%20her%20nap.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBack%20to%20the%20training%E2%80%A6.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20would%20like%20to%20teach%20them%20to%20fetch%20balls%20or%20sticks%20or%20something.%20You%20know,%20the%20traditional%20%E2%80%98human%20throws%20it%20/%20%20dog%20brings%20it%20back%E2%80%99%20game.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%E2%80%99ve%20tried,%20occasionally,%20and%20what%20usually%20happens%20is%20that%20I%20throw%20the%20ball,%20Guapa%20races%20off%20and%20gets%20it,%20then%20she%20and%20Bonnie%20run%20around%20playing%20keep-away%20with%20each%20other.%20Or%20Bonnie%20gets%20it%20and%20tries%20to%20play%20keep-away%20with%20me.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20thought%20I%E2%80%99d%20try%20it%20one%20dog%20at%20a%20time.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGuapa%20and%20I%20went%20out%20for%20our%20training%20session.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20threw%20the%20ball.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20hit%20her%20in%20the%20head%20(it%E2%80%99s%20a%20tennis%20ball).%20She%20ignored%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20threw%20a%20piece%20of%20kibble%20and%20she%20caught%20it%20mid-air.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20threw%20the%20ball%20and%20it%20hit%20her%20in%20the%20head.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EShe%20just%20looked%20at%20me%20like%20I%20was%20crazy%E2%80%A6.%20Why%20was%20I%20throwing%20the%20stupid%20ball%20when%20I%20was%20supposed%20to%20be%20throwing%20food?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20did%20this%20a%20few%20more%20times%20until%20I%20got%20tired%20of%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBonnie%E2%80%99s%20turn.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBonnie%20caught%20the%20ball%20first%20time!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYay%20Bonnie!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20she%20promptly%20dropped%20it,%20ran%20to%20me%20and%20sat%20for%20her%20treat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20did%20this%20a%20few%20more%20times.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20if%20I%20can%20only%20teach%20her%20to%20bring%20the%20ball%20with%20her%20when%20she%20comes%20to%20me%20instead%20of%20dropping%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMaybe%20if%20I%20can%20teach%20Bonnie%20she%20can%20teach%20Guapa.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20not%20I%E2%80%99ll%20be%20chasing%20a%20lot%20of%20tennis%20balls.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20wonder%20if%20it%E2%80%99s%20because%20they%20are%20two%20and%20used%20to%20playing%20with%20each%20other.%20Both%20Sedi%20and%20Emma%20chased%20balls%20and%20brought%20them%20to%20me%20without%20me%20having%20to%20teach%20them%20anything.%20But%20they%20didn%E2%80%99t%20play%20with%20each%20other.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20just%20thought%20If%20I%20could%20teach%20them%20to%20chase%20balls%20I%20could%20give%20them%20a%20lot%20of%20exercise%20so%20they%20wouldn%E2%80%99t%20be%20so%20intent%20on%20chasing%20the%20bunnies.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYeah,%20I%20know%E2%80%A6.%20Dream%20on.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELast%20Updated%20on%20April%207,%202014%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
