Fluffy French Toast With Orange Syrup Recipe

  1. Generously butter large roasting pan. Arrange bread in single layer in prepared pan, fitting closely together. Beat half and half, Large eggs, cinnamon and nutmeg to blend in medium bowl. Pour egg mix over bread.
  2. Cover pan and chill till bread absorbs mix, turning once, about 3 hrs. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Keep refrigerated.)
  3. Preheat oven to 400F. Uncover pan and bake French toast till tester inserted into center of bread comes out clean, about 30 min.
  4. Meanwhile, stir orange juice and cornstarch in small saucepan till smooth. Add in sugar and stir over medium heat till thick, about 8 min.
  5. Add in butter, lemon juice and orange peel and stir till butter melts.
  6. Recut French toast into 8 separate slices. Serve with hot orange syrup.
  7. Serves 8.
