Caramel Banana Ice Cream Cake with Chocolate Pretzel Magic Shell Recipe
Ingredients
- For the banana cake:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cups very ripe, peeled and mashed, bananas (about 4 medium)
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- For the layers:
- 1 pint caramel ice cream
- Chocolate Pretzel Magic Shell
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line an 8x8 baking pan with parchment paper and spray with nonstick spray. (I recommend Baker's Joy.)

%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20started%20the%20month%20out%20with%20my%20Oreo%20Cheesecake%20Ice%20Cream%20that%20requires%20no%20ice%20cream%20maker%20at%20all.%20%20No%20churning,%20no%20machine,%20just%20a%20bowl%20and%20a%20spoon!%20%20I%20have%20another%20no-machine%20ice%20cream%20recipe%20coming%20up%20later%20this%20month%20that%20I%E2%80%99m%20super%20excited%20about!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut,%20first,%20I%20want%20to%20leave%20you%20this%20weekend%20with%20another%20frozen%20dessert%20idea.%20%20This%20one%20came%20to%20my%20mind%20as%20I%20was%20creating%20this%20Chocolate%20Sandwich%20Cookie%20Banana%20Cake%20recipe%20posted%20last%20month.%20%20I%20used%20half%20of%20the%20banana%20cake%20batter%20for%20the%20cookie%20cake,%20then%20the%20other%20half%20for%20this%20ice%20cream%20cake.%20%20One%20of%20the%20best%20decisions%20I%20made%20that%20day!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20cake%20is%20best%20when%20it%E2%80%99s%20consumed%20within%20the%20first%202-3%20days,%20otherwise%20the%20banana%20cake%20part%20is%20too%20hard%20and%20dry.%20%20I%20served%20it%20three%20times%20%E2%80%93%20the%20day%20after%20I%20made%20it%20(so%20it%20could%20freeze%20overnight)%20when%20I%20sliced%20into%20it%20to%20take%20photos%20and%20have%20a%20taste.%20%20Next,%20we%20brought%20it%20with%20us%20to%20a%20friend%E2%80%99s%20house%20for%20dessert.%20%20A%20couple%20of%20days%20later,%20I%20busted%20it%20out%20again%20when%20a%20couple%20came%20over,%20but%20it%20was%20no%20good%20by%20then.%20%20Luckily%20I%20had%20another%20dessert%20ready%20that%20evening!%20%20So,%20take%20it%20from%20my%20experience,%20plan%20to%20eat%20this%20up%20within%203%20days.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20can%20choose%20a%20different%20flavor%20of%20ice%20cream%20for%20the%20middle%20to%20mix%20it%20up%20if%20you%20want.%20%20I%20originally%20wanted%20a%20salted%20caramel%20flavored%20ice%20cream,%20but%20couldn%E2%80%99t%20find%20it%20at%20my%20store.%20%20So,%20I%20picked%20up%20a%20caramel%20ribbon%20flavor%20(can%E2%80%99t%20remember%20the%20exact%20name).%20%20A%20peanut%20butter%20ice%20cream%20would%20be%20great,%20too!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20one%20thing%20you%20shouldn%E2%80%99t%20replace,%20though,%20is%20the%20Chocolate%20Pretzel%20Magic%20Shell.%20%20This%20is%20a%20new%20Magic%20Shell%20flavor%20by%20Smucker%E2%80%99s.%20%20It%20has%20tiny%20little%20pieces%20of%20pretzel%20in%20it%20and%20is%20OH.SO.GOOD.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECaramel%20Banana%20Ice%20Cream%20Cake%20with%20Chocolate%20Pretzel%20Magic%20Shell%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECaramel%20ice%20cream%20is%20spread%20over%20top%20a%20freshly%20baked%20banana%20cake,%20then%20covered%20with%20Chocolate%20Pretzel%20Magic%20Shell.%20Slice%20into%20squares%20and%20see%20the%20magical%20layers%20that%20create%20this%20delicious%20frozen%20dessert!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20large%20bowl,%20whisk%20together%20the%20flour,%20salt,%20baking%20soda%20and%20baking%20powder;%20set%20aside.%20Using%20either%20a%20stand%20mixer%20or%20a%20food%20processor,%20place%20the%20eggs%20and%20sugar%20in%20the%20work%20bowl%20and%20process/mix%20about%201%20minute.%20Add%20the%20butter%20and%20process/mix%20until%20the%20butter%20is%20thoroughly%20combined%20with%20the%20eggs%20and%20sugar.%20Stir%20in%20the%20banana%20and%20lemon%20juice,%20process/mix%20until%20blended.%20Add%20the%20flour%20mixture%20and%20stir/pulse%20just%20until%20dry%20ingredients%20almost%20disappear.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20half%20the%20batter%20into%20the%20prepared%20pan,%20reserve%20the%20rest%20for%20another%20use%20like%20baking%20muffins.%20Spread%20so%20the%20batter%20is%20level.%20Carefully%20place%20in%20the%20oven%20and%20bake%20for%2018-22%20minutes,%20or%20until%20a%20toothpick%20inserted%20into%20the%20middle%20comes%20out%20clean.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20from%20the%20oven%20and%20let%20cool%20completely.%20Meanwhile,%20allow%20the%20caramel%20ice%20cream%20to%20soften%20on%20the%20counter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20the%20cake%20is%20completely%20cooled%20and%20the%20ice%20cream%20is%20softened,%20evenly%20spread%20the%20ice%20cream%20over%20top%20the%20cake.%20Place%20in%20the%20freezer%20for%202%20hours.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20from%20the%20freezer%20and%20drizzle%20the%20Magic%20Shell%20topping%20over%20the%20ice%20cream%20until%20completely%20covered.%20Spread%20with%20a%20spatula%20to%20make%20it%20evenly.%20Work%20quickly%20as%20the%20Magic%20Shell%20will%20harden%20fast.%20Return%20to%20the%20freezer%20for%2020%20minutes%20before%20serving.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20serve,%20carefully%20lift%20the%20parchment%20paper%20to%20remove%20the%20cake%20from%20the%20pan%20to%20a%20cutting%20board.%20Slice%20into%20squares%20and%20serve%20immediately.%20Return%20any%20leftovers%20to%20the%20pan%20and%20keep%20in%20the%20freezer.2.2%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ehttp://www.seededatthetable.com/2014/07/17/caramel-banana-ice-cream-cake-with-chocolate-pretzel-magic-shell/%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECopyright%20Seeded%20at%20the%20Table%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20post%20is%20not%20sponsored%20by%20Smucker%E2%80%99s.%20%20
