!%20But%20today%20I%20worked%20at%20home-%20insanity%20reigned-%20and%20since%20the%20kids%20are%20home%20for%20the%20summer,%20I%20decided%20not%20to%20waste%20a%20minute%20of%20memory-making%20time.%20It%20rained%20HARD%20last%20night,%20but%20the%20sun%20was%20trying%20very%20hard%20to%20peek%20out%20this%20morning.%20What%20better%20time%20for%20a%20dessert%20break%20with%20my%20lovely%20daughter?%20Her%20creative%20mind%20is%20churning%20with%20ideas%20for%20Father's%20Day%20this%20weekend%20and%20we%20spent%20some%20time%20chatting%20about%20an%20upcoming%20family%20trip.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20LOVED%20it!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20tiny%20table%20for%202....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20table%20is%20topped%20with%20a%20vintage%2050s%20card%20table%20cloth.%20These%20were%20made%20with%20little%20ties%20at%20the%20corners%20so%20that%20the%20cloths%20would%20stay%20flat%20during%20a%20raucus%20game%20of%20Canasta!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20pulled%20the%20bottom%20cloth%20through%20at%20the%20corners%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ea%20pillow%20made%20with%20a%20vintage%20initial%20hanky...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eand%20one%20made%20with%20a%20vintage%20needlepoint%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEach%20corner%20has%20a%20motif.%20This%20little%20lovely%20little%20Miss%20is%20carrying%20a%20lantern.%20Isn't%20the%20heart%20adorable??%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBy%20the%20way-%20it's%20quite%20obvious%20I'm%20still%20learning%20this%20picture%20stuff.%20Note%20to%20self-%20make%20sure%20your%20feet%20aren't%20in%20the%20picture!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20place%20setting%20is%20handpainted%20glass...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eand%20one%20is%20painted%20pottery.%20The%20colors%20echo%20the%20flowers%20around%20us%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESee%20my%20little%20potted%20fig%20tree?%20:)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOverflowing%20planters%20still%20wet%20and%20droopy%20from%20the%20night's%20downpour%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnother%20motif-%20a%20hanging%20lantern-%20the%20suit%20is%20Diamonds%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECitrus-%20the%20colors%20of%20summer%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20lantern%20of%20Clubs...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELemon%20Meringue%20Puff%20Pastries%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20of%20my%20very%20few%20hydrangeas%20this%20year%20:(%20%20%20Mr%20B.%20inadvertantly%20pruned%20at%20the%20wrong%20time%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHere%20comes%20the%20sun...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESilver%20rose%20napkin%20rings%20holding%20vintage%20monogrammed%20linen%20napkins-%20I%20was%20so%20excited%20when%20I%20found%20these-%20they're%20our%20initial!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20relaxing-%20even%20a%20very%20short%20break%20is%20so%20good%20for%20the%20soul%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWho%20do%20you%20think%20she's%20looking%20for??%20The%20Queen%20of%20Hearts%20maybe??%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20lovely%20break%20with%20my%20girl%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20just%20have%20to%20show%20you%20my%20figs-%20I%20feel%20like%20a%20proud%20mama!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlease%20come%20join%20us%20sometime-%20we'd%20love%20to%20have%20you%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20lemon%20juice,%20salt%20and%20cut%20up%20butter%20pieces%20and%20heat%20over%20medium-low%20heat,%20stirring%20continuously%20with%20a%20heat-proof%20rubber%20spatula.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20lemon%20curd%20will%20eventually%20thicken,%20coating%20the%20back%20of%20the%20spatula.%20%20Do%20not%20boil%20or%20it%20may%20curdle.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStrain%20and%20discard%20residue.%20%20Add%20zest%20and%20stir.%20%20Allow%20to%20cool.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EITALIAN%20MERINGUE%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3%20%20egg%20whites,%20at%20room%20temperature%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20teaspoon%20cream%20of%20tartar%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/4%20cup%20caster%20sugar%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%201/2%20TBLSP%20water%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20standing%20mixer%20with%20a%20whisk%20attachment,%20whisk%20egg%20whites%20until%20foamy.%20%20Add%20cream%20of%20tartar%20and%20continue%20whisking%20on%20medium-high%20speed%20until%20stiff%20peaks%20form.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20heavy%20saucepan,%20heat%20sugar%20and%20water%20until%20dissolved.%20%20Continue%20to%20cook%20the%20sugar%20until%20the%20soft%20ball%20stage.%20(240%20degrees)%20Pour%20the%20cooked%20sugar%20into%20the%20stiffly%20beaten%20whites%20and%20beat%20until%20combined.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20assemble:%20Fill%20puff%20pastry%20tarts%20with%20lemon%20curd.%20Using%20pastry%20bag%20with%20star%20tip,%20spiral%20on%20meringue%20working%20from%20edges%20in%20to%20center.%20Either%20broil%20for%20a%20minute%20or%20so%20till%20tips%20turn%20golden%20(watch%20very%20carefully!!%20This%20burns%20quickly)%20OR%20do%20as%20I%20do%20and%20use%20a%20kitchen%20torch%20to%20gently%20brown%20the%20meringue.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EJoin%20us%20tomorrow%20for%20Foodie%20Friday%20at%20Gollum's%20place-%20and%20take%20the%20time%20to%20make%20some%20memories%20of%20your%20own%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20Always,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBuon%20Cibo,%20Buon%20Amici,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPattie%20and%20Allie%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
