%20and%20everyone%20feeling%20a%20bit%20lazy.%20Fortunately,%20things%20have%20improved%20some%20for%20homemakers%20since%20my%20Nonna%20and%20Grandma's%20time.%20I%20remember%20the%20steaminess%20in%20their%20kitchens%20on%20these%20dog%20days%20of%20summer%20and%20how%20they%20avoided%20the%20ovens%20at%20all%20costs.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20made%20wonderful%20antipasto%20meals,%20ate%20room%20temperature%20frittatas,%20and%20gorged%20ourselves%20on%20the%20fresh%20fruits%20and%20veggies%20from%20our%20gardens.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBacchiglione%20River%20in%20Vicenza%20where%20I%20skipped%20rocks%20with%20my%20Nonno%20every%20evening%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENowadays,%20turning%20on%20the%20oven%20in%20my%20air%20conditioned%20house%20isn't%20so%20very%20horrible,%20but%20I%20still%20try%20to%20do%20any%20baking%20in%20the%20early%20morning%20cool%20(if%20you%20can%20call%2089%20degrees%20cool)%20and%20we%20do%20eat%20a%20LOT%20of%20cooler%20meals.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETonight's%20dinner%20is%20a%20conglomeration%20of%20all%20the%20wonderful%20Farmer's%20Market%20bounty%20we've%20been%20enjoying%20this%20season.%20I%20haven't%20been%20feeling%20so%20well%20and%20my%20very%20wonderful%20friend%20dropped%20off%20several%20bagloads%20of%20goodies.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20zucchini%20went%20over%20particularly%20well-%20this%20is%20a%20dish%20I%20make%20often%20during%20the%20summer%20as%20I%20can%20vary%20the%20ingredients%20depending%20on%20what%20we%20have%20left%20over.%20Tonight's%20version%20with%20chicken%20was%20very%20flavorful%20and%20I%20just%20watched%20my%20Mom%20walk%20by%20munching%20on%20one%20as%20she%20talks%20on%20the%20phone%20:)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20it%20came%20to%20pasta%20I%20grew%20up%20with%202%20different%20languages.%20To%20my%20Northern%20Italian%20Nonna%20it%20was%20%22pasta%22%20and%20there%20were%202%20kinds%20of%20pasta.%20Minestra%20was%20pasta%20in%20a%20soup%20or%20broth%20and%20pasta%20asciutta%20(%20translation-%20dry%20pasta)%20was%20pasta%20in%20a%20sauce%20of%20some%20sort.%20To%20my%20Grandma%20Josie%20pasta%20was%20always%20%22macaroni%22%20and%20macaroni%20was%20always%20served%20on%20Sundays%20and%20Thursdays.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETonight's%20sauce%20was%20very%20typical%20of%20both%20my%20grandmother's%20during%20the%20summer.%20Salsa%20Cruda%20is%20%22raw%22%20sauce%20meaning%20the%20ingredients%20are%20not%20cooked.%20My%20addition-%20some%20ripe%20avocado.%20The%20creaminess%20adds%20to%20the%20dish%20and%20I%20fully%20believe%20Nonna%20would%20approve%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDessert%20was%20a%20request%20by%20a%20good%20friend.%20Normally,%20I%20make%20the%20dough,%20but%20today%20I%20cheated%20and%20used%20a%20store%20bought%20puff%20pastry%20dough.%20The%20cream%20horns%20are%20filled%20with%20a%20ricotta/%20mascarpone%20cream.%20Come%20join%20Bramasole%20on%20Facebook%20for%20the%20recipe!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPut%20the%20zucchini%20shells%20on%20the%20prepared%20baking%20sheet%20and%20fill%20the%20cavity%20with%20the%20meat%20mixture.%20Spread%20the%20vegetable%20mixture%20on%20top.%20Sprinkle%20the%20tomato%20pieces%20on%20top.%20Sprinkle%20with%20bread%20crumbs.%20If%20desired,%20drizzle%20with%20a%20bit%20of%20olive%20oil-%20I%20didn't%20today%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECover%20with%20foil%20and%20bake%20for%2040%20minutes.%20Uncover%20and%20bake%20for%20another%2015%20minutes.%20Serve%20warm%20or%20at%20room%20temperature.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETutti%20a%20tavola!!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPasta%E2%80%99sciutta%20Con%20Salsa%20Cruda%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBring%20a%20large%20well%20salted%20pot%20of%20water%20to%20a%20boil.%20Cook%201%20pound%20of%20small%20shells,%20trenette,%20or%20other%20short%20chunky%20pasta.%20When%20pasta%20is%20al%20dente,%20drain%20and%20rinse%20with%20cool%20water%20to%20bring%20to%20room%20temperature.%20Drain%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20cup%20flavorful%20olives%20(Kalamata,%20Nicoise,%20etc),%20pitted%20and%20coarsely%20chopped%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%201/4-%201%201/2%20lbs%20ripe%20cherry,%20grape,%20or%20plum%20tomatoes,%20seeded%20and%20chopped%20(%20I%20used%20grape%20tonight)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20garlic%20clove,%20crushed%20and%20minced%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20small%20or%201/4-%201/2%20large%20red%20onion,%20finely%20diced%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ezest%20of%202%20lemons,%20minced%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20cup%20olive%20oil%20plus%20more%20if%20dry%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Esalt%20and%20pepper%20to%20taste-%20be%20sure%20to%20taste%20before%20serving!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20all%20above%20ingredients%20in%20a%20bowl%20and%20allow%20to%20sit%20at%20room%20temperature%20while%20pasta%20is%20cooking%20and%20greens%20are%20being%20washed%20and%20cut%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWash,%20dry,%20and%20coarsely%20julienne:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ea%20handful%20of%20basil%20leaves%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ea%20small%20bunch%20of%20arugula%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ea%20couple%20of%20handfuls%20of%20spinach%20leaves%20(cut%20out%20any%20stems)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20assemble:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDice%202%20large,%20ripe%20avocados%20and%20place%20on%20top%20of%20the%20tomato%20mixture.%20Juice%20a%20lemon%20and%20pour%20juice%20over%20avo
