I wouldn't mind a discussion re: promoting your blog via Twitter and other social media tools.
Right now, I use HootSuite to manage most of my social network posts (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn) and use it to schedule my blog posts and daily tweets.
What are your strategies?
To be honest social media isn't really about scheduled daily tweets, sure you can do that as a back up. However social media is about being social, trying to fake it will mean that people don't follow you in the first place, or they ignore most of your tweets.
You need to interact, and show that you are a person, respond to tweets in your feed ask questions, get conversations going. Talk about your successes and failures, talk about stuff unrelated to your blog. The idea is to be a person that people like. Then people will want to follow links that your tweet.
So my strategy, when I have time, is to be a person and use Twitter to talk about my life, sure I automate out links to my new posts, but that's the only automation I do.

As far as Twitter apps go. I use Hoot Suite on my iPhone and TweetDeck on my PC. I love that TweetDeck allows me to have open multiple columes at once.
I completely agree with Lauren. Ultimately the most sucessful people on twitter are the folks who are being themselves. Sure, I use twitter to promote my blog, but I do so in a genuine fashion and I do not use any kind of feed to auto update. But mostly I chat and talk.
