Swiss MeringueMade in my sister-in-laws kitchenIn an earlier post I 'fessed up that I have never made a Meringue. Being brought up with a healthy eating JammyMummy we had loads of scrumptious food, but, I don't remember meringue. Gingerbreadgran didn't cook it either. This probably explains its absence from my residual cooking memory.Inspired by… |

Lemon Meringue Pie FillingI have a personal soft spot for both the aroma and taste of lemons. One staple favorite is any sort of lemon tart, pie or donut that has a lemon filling. Here is my favourite filling taken from a very old cook book called The Dairy Book of Home Cookery*.These books were sold by the Milkman and were a staple on many 1970's bookshelves.… |

Oat & Raisin Toddler Cookies (healthy ish)3cm of yumminessGingerbread man junior is biscuit-tastic at the moment. Definitely going through a phase. A healthy cookie recipe was required pronto. Netmums provided this one. It turned out really well, although I'm currently testing it to see if they freeze. I made it as described below, but, rolled the dough out between sheets of… |

Bonfire Night Hot dog OnionsOdd colour, great tasteWe held a joint Bonfire Party this year. My friend Hannah (AKA Pudding Queen) cooked the sausages and an amazing dark ginger cake in her Aga. I did the Onions and Elephant shaped sugar cookies. Onions are not quite in the same league I know but I made them count (and they were easy to transport). In my efforts… |

Cheese SconesMaybe I should have called these easy cheese scones. They were a doddle and turned out light and tasty. I've fancied a savoury scone(s) ever since I read a magazine that featured a selection of them looking luscious on the page. Onion & bacon, spring onion, olive, cherry and traditional sultana versions. Unfortunately they all used… |

Sopa de pescado un Blanco (Potato & Fish Soup)This nifty little fast, filling and easy to digest soup is so much nicer than it sounds. As an English gal fish soup sounded a bit dubious to start with, however, its one of Mr Jam Tart's favourites so features regularly in our house. Its not hugely fishy - honest! Served with a fresh crusty loaf its tasty. It take about 25 minutes to… |

Overripe Banana FlapJackThey last for days, use up those overripe bananas, they are cheap to make and they are good(ish) for you. What could be better than a great flapjack. A double batch, cut into small pieces and frozen comes in really handy. Junior Gingerbread loves them and a reserve is great for surprise visitors.Overripe Banana… |

Chorizo & Butter Bean CasseroleA best eaten the next day dish to really deepen the scrumptious flavour of the chorizo. I love this simple, 5 minute, chuck it all in a pan approach. You can eat it straight away but you can also leave it for all the flavour from the chorizo to permeate the whole dish. Great with fresh crusty bread or rice.A couple of my male friends… |
