;%20I%20just%20couldn%E2%80%99t%20get%20over%20how%E2%80%A6%20fishy%20it%20tasted.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20turning%20point,%20I%20think,%20came%20when%20my%20sister%20and%20her%20boyfriend%20prepared%20a%20delicious%20meal%20for%20my%20family%20(about%20a%20year%20and%20a%20half%20ago)%20that%20included%20an%20oven-baked%20salmon,%20served%20with%20a%20(minty?%20dilly?)%20yogurt%20sauce.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20realized%20that%20cooked%20fish%20didn%E2%80%99t%20taste%20half%20bad%20when%20smothered%20in%20a%20delicious%20yogurt%20sauce.%20(Nevermind%20that%20this%20might%20be%20true%20of%20anything,%20given%20enough%20delicious%20sauce%20for%20smothering%E2%80%A6)%20So%20with%20%E2%80%9Cthe%20Mediterranean%20Diet%E2%80%9D%20making%20weekly%20%E2%80%9Chealthy!%20delicious!%E2%80%9D%20headlines%20in%20the%20news,%20I%20decided%20I%20should%20give%20cooked%20fish%20a(nother)%20chance.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESince%20then%20I%E2%80%99ve%20been%20on%20a%20(half-hearted)%20mission%20to%20eat%20more%20cooked%20fish:%20I%20would%20still%20never%20order%20it%20at%20a%20restaurant%E2%80%94thus%20wasting%20my%20order!%E2%80%94in%20case%20it%20showed%20up%20too%20bland,%20too%20fishy,%20or%20not%20disguised%20by%20enough%20other%20flavors,%20but%20we%20do%20try%20to%20buy%20the%20good%20stuff%20every%20once%20in%20a%20while%20to%20cook%20for%20ourselves%20at%20home.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(This%20is%20how%20much%20I%20find%20fish%20boring/unappetizing:%20I%20wouldn%E2%80%99t%20even%20order%20or%20enjoy%20it%20deep-fried!)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20now%20that%20I%E2%80%99ve%20learned%20that%20cooked%20fish%20is%20more%20palatable%20with%20(magic%20sauce%20or%20a%20peppery%20pico%20de%20gallo-like%20salsa),%20or%20yogurt%20sauce,%20the%20possibilities%20for%20quick%20yet%20satisfying%20yet%20healthy%20weeknight%20meals%20have%20expanded%20dramatically.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%E2%80%99ve%20found%20I%20can%20almost%20enjoy%20halibut%20and%20cod%20more%20easily%20than%20salmon,%20because%20they%20don%E2%80%99t%20have%20quite%20as%20strong%20of%20a%20fishy%20flavor,%20but%20then%20they%20also%20don%E2%80%99t%20have%20as%20much%20flavor%20in%20general%E2%80%A6%20A%20bold,%20refreshing%20yogurt%20sauce%20tempers%20the%20stronger%20taste%20of%20salmon,%20making%20it%20more%20appealing%20in%20combination%20with%20yogurt%20than%20nearly%20any%20other%20type%20of%20fish%20(to%20my%20picky%20seafood%20palate).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESince%20Paula%20is%20IN%20LOVE%20with%20za%E2%80%99atar%20and%20we%20were%20already%20periodically%20having%20salmon%20+%20yogurt%20sauce%20dinners,%20hitting%20upon%20this%20recipe%20was%20really%20only%20a%20matter%20of%20time.%20But%20what%20a%20shame%20that%20it%20took%20us%20so%20long%20to%20discover%20it!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20all,%20homemade%20pita%20bread%20is%20divine%20drizzled%20with%20olive%20oil%20and%20crusted%20with%20a%20thick%20layer%20of%20za%E2%80%99atar%20smeared%20and%20baked%20onto%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELabne%20dips%20for%20pita%20chips%20are%20also%20gluttons%20for%20za%E2%80%99atar%20(these%20days%20I%20would%20spoon%20MUCH%20much%20more%20of%20the%20herby%20spice%20blend%20into%20the%20labne%20than%20I%20did%20in%20those%20photos%E2%80%A6).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETzatziki%20yogurt%20sauce%20is%20not%20unlike%20labne%20dip:%20they%20are%20both%20made%20from%20strained%20yogurt,%20olive%20oil,%20and%20herbs%20(plus%20cucumber%20for%20tzatziki).%20Tzatziki%20was%20also%20not%20unlike%20the%20yogurt%20sauces%20we%E2%80%99d%20been%20mixing%20up%20to%20smother%20our%20salmon.%20(Well,%20one%20of%20us%20garnished;%20and%20one%20of%20us%20smothered.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHow%20could%20we%20have%20failed%20to%20see%20that%20all%20signs%20were%20pointing%20us%20in%20this%20recipe%E2%80%99s%20direction?!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPaula%20was%20the%20one%20who%20finally%20came%20up%20with%20it;%20and%20it%20seemed%20so%20natural,%20so%20obvious,%20so%20right%E2%80%94I%20think%20I%20actually%20experienced%20a%20feeling%20of%20d%C3%A9j%C3%A0%20vu.%20Not%20like%20%E2%80%9CI%E2%80%99ve%20eaten%20this%20before,%E2%80%9D%20but%20more%20like%20%E2%80%9Cthis%20seems%20like%20something%20I%20should%20have%20already%20had%20the%20experience%20of%20eating%20before!%E2%80%9D%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMaybe%20we%20accidentally%20stole%20this%20idea%20from%20someone?%20But%20I%E2%80%99ve%20wracked%20my%20brain%20and%20can%E2%80%99t%20seem%20to%20remember%20ever%20eating%20or%20hearing%20of%20this%20exact%20meal%20of%20za%E2%80%99atar%20crusted%20salmon%20with%20tzatziki%20in%20the%20past%E2%80%A6%20and%20now%20we%E2%80%99ve%20already%20made%20it%20four%20or%20five%20times%20so%20the%20d%C3%A9j%C3%A0%20vu%20is%20no%20longer%20that%20irrational.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20if%20Paula%20and%20I%20stole%20this%20idea%20from%20you,%20we%E2%80%99re%20sorry%20and%20thank%20you.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOr%20if%20you%E2%80%99re%20just%20hearing%20about%20this%20easy,%20fancy,%20salmon%20strategy%20for%20the%20very%20first%20time,%20you%E2%80%99re%20welcome.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERECIPE:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EZa%E2%80%99atar%20Crusted%20Sal
