%20and%20found%20myself%20snuggling%20a%20quiet%20little%20almost%208%20lb.%20baby%20girl.%20Easy!%20Fast%20forward%20a%20few%20months%20and%20I%20was%20in%20baby%20hell.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThat%20quiet%20baby%20woke%20up%20after%20a%20couple%20of%20days%20and%20was%20angry%20as%20can%20be%20and%20stayed%20that%20way%20for%20most%20of%20the%20first%20year.%20Colic,%20severe%20reflux%20and%20hydronephrosis%20%E2%80%93%20a%20condition%20requiring%20a%20major%20surgery%20at%209%20months%20old.%20If%20I%20got%203%20hours%20of%20sleep%20a%20night%20it%20was%20a%20miracle.%20I%20was%20a%20walking%20zombie%20until%20Kayla%20was%20about%2015%20months%20old%20and%20the%20madness%20stopped.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20then%20I%20started%20taking%20care%20of%20all%20the%20things%20that%20my%20husband%20Craig%20and%20I%20had%20neglected%20as%20parents%20because%20we%20were%20too%20exhausted%20to%20think%20about%20them.%20Like%20college%20savings%20%E2%80%93%20a%20phrase%20that%20gives%20me%20hives.%20We%20opened%20an%20account%20for%20that%20and%20started%20socking%20money%20away.%20Problem%20solved.%20Then%20sometime%20around%20Kayla%E2%80%99s%20second%20birthday%20I%20had%20a%20minor%20freak%20out%20because%20I%20realized%20once%20again%20we%E2%80%99d%20forgotten%20something%20and%20how%20could%20we%20have?%20Life%20insurance.%20DUH.%20We%20were%20putting%20hundreds%20of%20dollars%20a%20month%20towards%20college%20savings%20but%20what%20if%20something%20happened%20to%20one%20of%20us%20in%20the%20near%20future?%20It%E2%80%99s%20something%20no%20one%20wants%20to%20think%20about%20but%20doing%20something%20about%20it%20is%20clearly%20the%20responsible%20thing.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20we%20got%20Craig%20set%20up%20with%20a%20term%20life%20insurance%20policy.%20After%20all,%20I%20was%20working%20part%20time%20and%20making%20far%20less%20money%20than%20I%20made%20before%20having%20Kayla.%20So%20it%20was%20really%20his%20income%20we%E2%80%99d%20need%20to%20replace%20if%20anything%20happened,%20right?%20Wrong!%20Well,%20right%20and%20wrong.%20Sure,%20Craig%20is%20the%20main%20breadwinner%20in%20the%20house%20and%20we%20couldn%E2%80%99t%20survive%20without%20his%20income.%20Mine%20felt%20insignificant%20compared%20to%20his%20but%20forget%20my%20part%20time%20work.%20What%20about%20all%20of%20the%20work%20that%20goes%20into%20being%20a%20mom?%20Cooking,%20cleaning,%20playing%20chauffeur%20and%20general%20caretaker.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20I%20was%20gone%20who%20would%20take%20care%20of%20all%20of%20that?%20I%20remember%20thinking%20at%20that%20moment%20that%20my%20child%20was%202%20and%20her%20father%20didn%E2%80%99t%20even%20know%20how%20to%20strap%20her%20into%20the%20stroller%20or%20prepare%20a%20bite%20sized%20meal%20for%20her.%20There%20was%20no%20doubt%20that%20if%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20wake%20up%20tomorrow%20he%E2%80%99d%20need%20help.%20Big%20time%20help.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20I%20was%20busy%20making%20sure%20Kayla%20had%20BPA%20free%20sippy%20cups%20and%20organic%20fruit%20and%20that%20my%20husband%20kept%20a%20low%20sodium%20diet%20and%20got%20plenty%20of%20time%20to%20go%20to%20the%20gym%20I%20had%20neglected%20to%20realize%20that%20the%20most%20important%20thing%20I%20could%20give%20them%20was%20a%20safety%20net.%20A%20guarantee%20that%20if%20anything%20ever%20happens%20to%20me%20while%20she%E2%80%99s%20young%20that%20at%20least%20there%20will%20be%20a%20way%20to%20help%20close%20the%20gap%20with%20her%20care%20and%20provide%20the%20things%20I%20care%20so%20much%20about%20that%20cost%20a%20little%20more%20like%20safer%20sunscreen%20and%20healthier%20food.%20After%20beating%20myself%20up%20about%20it%20for%20a%20few%20days%20I%20finally%20moved%20forward%20and%20got%20a%20policy%20of%20my%20own.%20Genworth%20Financial%20had%20a%20ton%20of%20helpful%20resources%20to%20make%20the%20process%20easy.%20Now%20I%20pay%20$25%20a%20month%20for%20peace%20of%20mind%20and%20enough%20life%20insurance%20to%20guarantee%20that%20no%20matter%20what%20happens%20in%20the%20future,%20I%20know%20the%20little%20girl%20I%20care%20about%20more%20than%20anything%20in%20the%20world%20will%20be%20taken%20care%20of.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDoesn%E2%80%99t%20that%20seem%20worth%20it?%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
