,%20but%20here%20it%20would%20be%20pretty%20much%20unheard%20of%20not%20to%20own%20one.%20How%20else%20are%20you%20going%20to%20offer%20your%20guests%20a%20quick%20cuppa?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20has%20officially%20been%2060%20years%20since%20Russell%20Hobbs%20released%20the%20world%E2%80%99s%20first%20fully%20automatic%20electric%20kettle%20way%20back%20in%201955%20and%20revolutionised%20the%20way%20we%20boil%20water%20forever%20%E2%80%93%20hence%20the%20homemade%20hot%20chocolate%20mix,%20which%20just%20needs%20a%20bit%20of%20boiling%20water%20poured%20over%20the%20top%20to%20make%20a%20hot,%20creamy%20drink%20(a%20real%20necessity%20at%20this%20time%20of%20year).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20couple%20of%20weeks%20ago%20I%20attended%20an%20event%20thrown%20by%20Russell%20Hobbs%20to%20commemorate%20the%20electric%20kettle%E2%80%99s%2060th%20anniversary.%20We%20learned%20a%20little%20about%20the%20history%20of%20the%20kettle%20(who%20knew%20kitchen%20technology%20could%20be%20so%20interesting?),%20and%20even%20had%20a%20little%20tea-tasting%20session%20(that%E2%80%99s%20not%20me%20in%20the%20picture,%20before%20you%20compliment%20me%20on%20my%20blonde%20hair!).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20before%20you%20go%20thinking%20we%20British%20are%20more%20civilised%20than%20we%20are,%20I%20should%20probably%20tell%20you%20that%20we%20didn%E2%80%99t%20just%20sip%20tea%20all%20night%20%E2%80%93%20there%20were%20also%20three%20different%20tea-%20and%20coffee-inspired%20cocktails%20on%20offer,%20which%20went%20down%20a%20real%20treat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELeft%20to%20right:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20know%20what%20you%E2%80%99re%20thinking%20and%20yes,%20I%20was%20indeed%20in%20heaven.%20My%20favourite%20was%20the%20K1%20Classic%20%E2%80%93%20so%20good,%20and%20there%E2%80%99s%20nothing%20like%20a%20martini%20glass%20to%20make%20a%20girl%20feel%20sophisticated.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERussell%20Hobbs%20have%20recently%20released%20a%20Special%20Edition%20of%20their%20Legacy%20design%20kettle,%20to%20celebrate%20the%20electric%20kettle%E2%80%99s%2060th%20birthday.%20It%E2%80%99s%20attractive%20and%20ergonomic,%20but%20it%20also%20has%20the%20number%2060%20hidden%20in%20the%20shape%20of%20the%20handle%20%E2%80%93%20see%20it?%20Clever,%20that!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20put%20my%20Special%20Edition%20Legacy%20kettle%20to%20good%20use%20on%20my%20homemade%20hot%20chocolate%20mix.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20the%20past%20I%E2%80%99ve%20always%20preferred%20a%20hot%20chocolate%20to%20be%20made%20with%20milk%20rather%20than%20water%20%E2%80%93%20they%E2%80%99re%20usually%20so%20much%20more%20creamy%20and%20satisfying.%20But,%20I%20hate%20faffing%20around%20with%20heating%20milk%20%E2%80%93%20if%20I%20put%20it%20in%20the%20microwave%20it%20inevitably%20boils%20over%20or%20gets%20a%20terrible%20skin%20on%20it%E2%80%A6%20no%20good.%20Hot%20chocolate%20made%20with%20water%20is%20so%20much%20more%20convenient.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo,%20I%20set%20about%20trying%20to%20find%20a%20way%20to%20make%20a%20rich%20and%20creamy%20hot%20chocolate%20using%20just%20boiled%20water.%20The%20secret:%20milk%20powder!%20I%20fell%20in%20love%20with%20it%20when%20I%20made%20my%20homemade%20instant%20oatmeal%20(a%20big%20batch%20of%20which%20still%20gets%20made%20every%20few%20weeks,%20by%20the%20way),%20and%20my%20love%20has%20not%20waned%20since.%20It%E2%80%99s%20a%20great%20way%20to%20add%20creaminess%20to%20a%20recipe%20without%20needing%20to%20use%20%E2%80%98real%E2%80%99%20milk.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20have%20one%20other%20secret%20ingredient%20as%20well%20(what%20proportion%20of%20a%20recipe%20can%20be%20%E2%80%98secret%20ingredients%E2%80%99%20before%20they%20just%20become%20%E2%80%98the%20ingredients%E2%80%99?)%20%E2%80%93%20milk%20chocolate%20chips!%20I%20know,%20they%20add%20a%20little%20extra%20naughtiness%20to%20the%20recipe,%20but%20they%20also%20make%20it%20super%20rich,%20and%20help%20to%20get%20rid%20of%20that%20watery%20taste.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20you%E2%80%99ve%20mixed%20your%20milk%20powder%20and%20chocolate%20chips%20with%20some%20sweetened%20cocoa%20powder%20(or%20unsweetened%20cocoa%20powder%20and%20some%20separate%20sugar,%20if%20you%20prefer),%20just%20pour%20over%20your%20boiling%20water.%20To%20avoid%20lumps,%20I%20like%20to%20add%20a%20couple%20of%20tablespoons%20of%20hot%20water%20to%20begin%20with,%20mix%20it%20to%20form%20a%20paste,%20and%20then%20top%20it%20up%20with%20more%20water.%20You%20need%20at%20least%20two%20or%20three%20heaped%20teaspoons%20of%20the%20hot%20chocolate%20mix%20to%20make%20one%20mugful%20of%20hot%20chocolate,%20but%20to%20be%20honest%20more%20is%20more%20in%20this%20recipe,%20so%20use%20a%20couple%20of%20extra%20spoonfuls%20for%20a%20really%20rich%20and%20creamy%20drink.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20rest%20can%20be%20stored%20it%20in%20an%20air-tight%20container%20until%20you%E2%80%99re%20ready%20to%20use%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOh,%20and%20if%20you%E2%80%99re%20very%20much%20in%20need%20of%20a%20pick-me-up,%20it%E2%80%99s%20fantastic%20with%20a%20little%20whipped%20cream%20and%20some%20sp
