%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUnfortunately,%20the%20hubby%20got%20pretty%20sick%20on%20Sunday,%20and%20he's%20still%20recuperating.%20He%20couldn't%20eat%20much,%20which%20meant%20I%20didn't%20cook%20much.%20When%20I'm%20sick,%20I%20eat%20a%20lot%20of%20scrambled%20eggs%20with%20jelly%20toast.%20When%20the%20hubby's%20sick,%20I%20eat%20a%20lot%20of%20scrambled%20eggs%20with%20jelly%20toast.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20other%20random%20news,%20we're%20at%20T%20minus%2030%20days%20until%20baby%20is%20scheduled%20to%20arrive.%20I'm%20still%20feeling%20pretty%20well,%20especially%20for%20a%20narcoleptic%20who's%20not%20getting%20any%20sleep.%20I%20even%20manage%20to%20take%20the%20pups%20on%20decently%20long%20walks%20each%20morning.%20But%20I'm%20not%20really%20a%20fan%20of%20meat.%20Or%20supper.%20Or%20meat%20for%20supper.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20hubby%20is,%20however,%20and%20it's%20more%20fun%20to%20cook%20for%20him,%20anyway.%20So%20tonight%20I%20made%20an%20adapted%20recipe%20from%20bon%20appetit%20for%20chicken%20shawarma,%20versions%20of%20which%20I've%20made%20before.%20But%20instead%20of%20serving%20this%20with%20the%20usual%20tzatziki%20sauce,%20the%20good%20folks%20at%20bon%20appetit%20recommended%20a%20salsa-like%20tomato%20relish%20and%20a%20lemony%20tahini%20sauce.%20We%20have%20plenty%20of%20fresh%20tomatoes,%20courtesy%20of%20my%20mother-in-law,%20and%20the%20relish%20was%20bright%20and%20fresh%20with%20a%20little%20kick%20from%20the%20serranos.%20And%20the%20spice%20mixture%20for%20the%20chicken%20and%20onions%20was%20fabulous%20--%20easily%20one%20of%20the%20best%20that%20I've%20tried.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EChicken%20Shawarma%20with%20Tomato%20Relish%20and%20Tahini%20Sauce%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes%204%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20Arrange%20chicken%20and%20onions%20each%20in%20a%20separate%20dish.%20Combine%20turmeric,%20salt,%20coriander,%20cumin,%20and%20peppers%20in%20a%20small%20bowl.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20Sprinkle%20onion%20slices%20with%201%20Tbsp.%20spice%20mixture%20and%20drizzle%20with%202%20Tbsp.%20olive%20oil,%20turning%20to%20coat%20both%20sides.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.%20Sprinkle%20chicken%20breasts%20with%20remaining%20spice%20mixture%20and%202%20Tbsp.%20olive%20oil,%20turning%20to%20coat%20both%20sides.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4.%20Cover%20and%20chill%20onions%20and%20turkey%20at%20least%204%20hours,%20or%20up%20to%20a%20day%20beforehand.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E5.%20Grill%20chicken%20and%20onions%20over%20medium%20heat%20until%20chicken%20is%20cooked%20through%20and%20onions%20are%20tender,%20about%2010%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(I%20used%20a%20grill%20pan%20on%20the%20upper%20rack%20for%20the%20onions.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E6.%20Meanwhile,%20combine%20tomato%20relish%20ingredients%20in%20a%20medium%20bowl.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E7.%20Combine%20tahini%20sauce%20ingredients%20in%20a%20small%20bowl.%20Start%20with%201/4%20c.%20water%20and%20add%20more%20until%20sauce%20is%20of%20desired%20consistency.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E8.%20Toast%20pita%20breads%20quickly%20on%20grill.%20Don't%20get%20distracted%20by%20playing%20fetch%20with%20your%20puppies%20and%20forget%20about%20the%20bread,%20because%20it%20will%20burn.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E9.%20Cut%20chicken%20and%20onions%20into%20bite-sized%20pieces,%20and%20serve%20on%20pita%20bread%20with%20tomato%20relish%20and%20tahini%20sauce.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20was%20sort%20of%20distracted%20by%20playing%20fetch%20with%20my%20puppies%20and%20I%20burned%20my%20bread.%20But%20I%20think%20this%20was%20worth%20a%20little%20burnt%20bread.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
