  1. 1. Combine sugar, salt, cream, mil, corn syrup and butter in a large heavy saucepan.
  2. 2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, till mix comes to boiling. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, till candy thermometer reaches 238F.
  3. (soft-ball stage)
  4. 3. Remove from heat, leaving thermometer in the saucepan. Cold to 100F.
  5. 4. Add in vanilla. Beat briskly till fudge thickens and begins to lose its gloss. Stir in cherries.
  6. 5. Pour into buttered 8" square pan. Cold. Cut into squares when hard.
  7. Makes 1 3/4 poundsGoodies
