Ingredients

  • 1 c. Unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 1 c. Light brown sugar firmly packed
  • 1/2 c. Dark brown sugar firmly pac ked
  • 3/4 tsp Vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 x Egg
  • 1/8 tsp Salt
  • 1 1/2 c. Unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 2 c. Semisweet chocolate cut in coarse chunks

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Linetwo baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the butter with both sugars till very well blended. Fold in the vanilla and egg, then mix in the salt, flour and chocolate chunks.
  3. Form into small or possibly large balls (walnut-sized or possibly golf-ball-sized, as desired).
  4. Place on the baking sheets and press down slightly. Bake till done, about 10 to 12 min. Cold on racks. (
  5. Makes about 2 dozen large or possibly 4 dozensmall).
