  1. Put berries in a large pot. Add in sufficient water to berries to almost level. Add in sugar. Boil a little while (till berries start turning pink). Make dumplings by combining shortening, water and sufficient flour to make a dough. Roll thin
  2. (dumplings plump up when they cook). Save 1/2 of dough for top of pie. Slice dumplings and add in to berries when they are at a rolling boil. When dough is half done (about 10 min) add in 1 Tablespoons margarine and cook about 5 min longer.
  3. Transfer to casserole dish (deep). Put dough on top (slice a small X in the middle). Put butter and sugar top. Bake 12-15 min (or possibly till brown) at 400 degrees F.
