Marha Gulyas (Beef Goulash Soup) Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp. Oil
  • 2 lb Boneless chuck steak, trimmed of all fat and cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 2 x Onions, finely minced
  • 1 x Clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. Of Hungarian paprika (sweet, medium or possibly warm by personal taste) Sufficient water to cover ingredients
  • 1 x Green pepper, cored, seeded and cut into 4 pcs
  • 1 lrg Tomato, seeded and cut into four pcs
  • 1/4 tsp Caraway seeds
  • 6 med Potatoes, peeled and diced Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Heat the oil and brown the beef, a few pcs at a time. When browned on all sides, remove from oil and cook the onion and garlic for three min.
  2. Then return meat to kettle. Add in the paprika and stir to coat meat proportionately.
  3. Add in the water, green pepper, tomato, and caraway seeds. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer. Cover and cook on very low heat for 2 hrs. Add in the potatoes and cook for an additional 30 min or possibly till potatoes are tender. Serve with Csipetke. Marha gulyas Hungarian Beef Goulash
