  1. Toast blanched almonds under broiler till lightly browned. Turn over to
  2. Place brown sugar, shortening, water, and almond extract in large bowl.
  3. Beat at medium speed till well blended. Add in Large eggs and beat well. Set aside
  4. Combine flour, cocoa, salt, and baking soda. Add in to shortening mix; beat at low speed till combined. Stir in chocolate chips and almonds.
  5. Drop by the Tbsp. 2" apart onto and ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 1 sheet at a time at 375 for 7-9 min or possibly till cookies are set. Don't OVERBAKE. Cold 2 min on cookie sheet before removing them to a cooling rack.
