Bread and Butter Refrigerator Pickles

Ingredients

  • 12 Kirby pickles, washed
  • 3 C white vinegar
  • 3 C sugar
  • 2 T mustard seed
  • 2 tsp, celery seed
  • 1 tsp. turmeric
  • 2-3 T salt
  • pinch clove powder

Bread and Butter Refrigerator Pickles

Time: 10 minutes prep
 
 

Directions

  1. Prepare containers - plastic works fine, as well as Mason jars.
  2. Slice pickles 1/2 inch thin and place them in containers.
  3. Combo all other ingredients and pour over cucumbers to the top, taking care to equally distribute seasonings.
  4. Securely close tops of containers and refrigerate one week before opening.

        Hi,

        It's a small cucumber. If you have a Central Market or Whole Foods nearby, they carry them. Sometimes you can find them at a farmers' market. They are less than half the size of regular cucumbers.
