Rich Chocolate Brownies

Ingredients

  • 2/3 c. butter
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 4 c. semisweet chocolate chips, divided
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Rich Chocolate Brownies

Time: 15 minutes prep, 35 minutes cook
Servings: 30
 

Directions

  1. In a heavy saucepan, bring butter, sugar and water to a boil, stirring frequently. Remove from heat. Stir in 2 cups of chocolate chips until melted. Let cool a little. Beat in vanilla.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs. Gradually add chocolate mixture, mixing well. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to chocolate mixture. Stir in remaining chocolate chips.
  3. Spread into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan. Bake at 325 F for 35-40 minutes, until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars.

    These are outstanding! Somewhat of a cross between a molten chocolate cake and a normal brownie. Best consumed with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream IMHO!

        We tried it last Saturday... it was great! We multiplied everything by 2/3 (as our pan was not as big as yours), but I think we could also use even less chocolate and sugar. Anyway, that's the best brownie I've ever had. Also, VERY easy to make, even I could do it! Definitely my choice!
