Ingredients

  • 2/3 c. Lowfat milk
  • 1/4 c. Water
  • 1/4 c. Butter,softened
  • 1 lrg Egg
  • 3 c. Bread flour
  • 1/4 c. Granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 1/2 tsp Bread machine yeast
  •     Vegetable oil for frying
  •     Sugar, if you like

Directions

  1. Put all ingredients in bread machine baking pan except vegetable oil in order recommended by manufacturer.
  2. Select Dough/Manual cycle. Don't USE DELAY CYCLES
  3. Roll dough 3/8-inch thick on a lightly floured board. Cut with floured doughnut cutter. Cover and let doughnuts rise on board 35-45 min or possibly till slightly raised.
  4. Heat 2-3" of vegetable oil in deep fryer or possibly heavy 3-Quart. saucepan to 375 degrees F. Fry 2 to 3 doughnuts at a time 2-3 min, turning as they rise to the surface, till golden. Remove from oil with long fork or possibly slotted spoon. Drain on wire rack. Roll hot doughnuts in granulated sugar.
