Old school Pinto Beans

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Pinto Beans
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 1 Smoked Ham Hock
  • 1 tbl. Brown Sugar
  • 1 (6.5 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 6 C. Water

Old school Pinto Beans

Time: 10 minutes prep, 3 hours cook
Servings: 6
 

Directions

  1. Soak beans overnight or for 4 hours changing water every 35 to 45 minutes.
  2. Add beans, ham hocks, and salt to water, bring to boil then reduce medium low for 2 to 3 hours.
  3. Remove ham hock cut meat off bone and return to pot.
  4. Stir in tomato and brown sugar then blend and cook 1 more hour.
