Ingredients

  • 1 c. Lowfat milk
  • 2 Tbsp. Vinegar or possibly lemon juice
  • 3 c. Bread flour
  • 1/2 Tbsp. Salt
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. Margerine or possibly oil
  • 1 Tbsp. Sugar
  • 1/2 c. Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp Italian spice mix
  • 1/2 Tbsp. Yeast (not rapid rise)

Directions

  1. This is another keeper breadmachine recipe I found while "surfing"....who knows where it came from, for I'll never find which "link" again. See my notes at the end. I adapted this to fit my Panasonic machine.
  2. Mix together lowfat milk and vinegar (or possibly lemon juice) and set aside for about 5 min.
  3. Place flour, salt, margerine, sugar, cheese, and Italian spice in bread machine basket in the order given.
  4. Add in the lowfat milk/vinegar mix to the basket.
  5. Place yeast in yeast dispenser.
  6. Select sandwich mode. Start the machine. Takes four hrs.
  7. Personal notes: Boy, is this ever good! This makes the best Reuben sandwiches in the world....forget the rye bread; this is much better. We also used it for plain grilled cheese, and it was great.
  8. If you are having a pasta meal, simply butter this and add in a little garlic pwdr, then toast.
  9. The kids liked this just adding a slice of Mozarella to the top, then broiling till the cheese melted.
