Blackberry And Blueberry Pie

Ingredients

  • 2/3 c. plus 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 x 5 Tbsp. cool water
  • 3/4 c. white sugar
  • 1/3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp grnd cinnamon
  • 4 c. blueberries
  • 1 1/2 c. blackberries
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or possibly margarine

Directions

  1. Method:1. Cut shortening into 2 c. flour and salt till particles are size of small peas. Sprinkle in water 1 Tbsp. at a time till flour is moistened.
  2. Gather into a ball, and roll out onto a lightly floured board. Make two rounds. Place one crust in a 9 inch pie dish.
  3. 2. Mix sugar, 1/3 c. flour, and cinnamon. Stir in berries to coat. Turn filling into pastry lined pan. Sprinkle with lemon juice, dot with butter.
  4. Cover with top crust;cut slits in the top. Seal and flute.
  5. 3. Bake at 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) for 35 to 45 min. Cover edges with foil to prevent burning, and remove foil for last 12 min of baking.
  6. Makes 9 inch pie
  7. This is a delicious berry pie which combines both blueberries and blackberries.
