Baked Lamb With Yogurt (Tave Kosi)

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb lamb leg or possibly shoulder Salt to taste Freshly-grnd black pepper to taste
  • 3/4 c. butter
  • 2 Tbsp. rice
  • 2 lb yogurt
  • 5 x Large eggs beaten
  • 1 Tbsp. flour

Baked Lamb With Yogurt (Tave Kosi)

Servings: 6
 

Directions

  1. Cut meat into 4 serving pcs. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Dot with 1/4 c. butter and bake at 350 degrees, basting now and then with pan juices, about 40 min, or possibly till well browned. Stir rice into pan juices. Remove baking pan from oven and set aside while preparing yogurt sauce.
  2. Combine yogurt with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in Large eggs till smooth. Set aside.
  3. Heat remaining 1/2 c. butter and add in flour. Saute/fry till smooth. Add in yogurt mix and stir till smooth. Pour yogurt sauce in baking pan, stirring it with meat pcs, and bake at 375 degrees 45 min. Serve warm.
  4. This recipe yields 4 to 6 servings.
