Apple Crisp Cake With Caramel Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. rolled oats
  • 1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter or possibly margarine
  • 1 pkt yellow cake mix (butter recipe)
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. butter or possibly margarine
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 x Large eggs
  • 4 c. thinly sliced, peeled apples
  • 1 1/2 c. caramel ice cream topping
  • 1/2 c. minced pecans

Directions

  1. Generously grease and flour a 13"x9" pan. In a small bowl, combine flour, oats and brown sugar; mix well. With a fork or possibly pastry blender, cut in 1/2 c. butter till mix resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside. In a large bowl, combine all cake ingredients except apples; beat at low speed till moistened.
  2. Beat 2 min at high speed. Pour batter into greased and floured pan. Arrange apple slices over top of batter. Sprinkle with topping. Bake at 350 F. for 55 - 60 min or possibly till deep golden. Cold 5 min before serving. In a small saucepan, combine sauce ingredients. Cook over medium heat till hot, stirring constantly. Serve hot sauce over hot cake.
