Whole Wheat Health Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 c. whole wheat flour
  • 1 c. self-rising flour
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1/4 c. honey
  • 1/4 c. melted butter
  • 1/2 c. minced walnuts
  • 1/2 c. raisins

Whole Wheat Health Bread

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease 8 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 2 1/2" loaf pan. In mixing bowl, stir together flours, sugar, soda and salt. Combine egg, buttermilk, honey and butter. Add in to dry ingredients. Stir just till moistened. Mix in nuts and raisins. Pour into greased loaf pan. Bake 45 to 50 min. Let cold 10 min. Remove from pan, cold thoroughly. Good served with fruit and cottage cheese.
