Podravska pogacha with walnuts

Very simple, very satisfying, typical for Northwest Croatia.

Ingredients

  • 500 g wheat flour (type 550)
  • 1/2 packet baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbs sugar
  • 120 g butter
  • 50 ml sour cream
  • 150-200 g walnuts, roughly chopped
  • 200 ml milk

Directions

1. Mix and combine flour and baking powder. Add salt, sugar, chopped butter and sour cream. Lightly combine with a hand.
2. Gradually add walnuts and milk and knead the dough.
3. Roll out the dough to the size of the rectangular baking sheet.
4. Place the dough on the baking sheet lined parchment paper. Cut the surface (avoid cutting through) into equal square rectangles. Bake pogacha in the oven at 200 ยบ C for about 30 minutes.
