Cake Without Eggs, Milk, Or Butter

Ingredients

  • 5 T shortening
  • 2 1/2 c. warm water
  • 2 1/2 c. raisins
  • 2 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 2 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 2 1/2 c. self-rising flour
  • 2 1/2 c. brown sugar

Cake Without Eggs, Milk, Or Butter

Servings: 8
 

Directions

  1. Mix together all ingredients except flour and sugar.
  2. Bring to boil, let boil 5 min. Let mix cool.
  3. Add in flour and sugar, mix well. Pour into greased 9 x 13 pie pan.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 min or until done (test with toothpick, it should come out clean).
  5. While cake is cooking, boil lightly 1 stick butter, 2 tbsp cocoa, 6 tbsp lowfat milk.
  6. Remove from heat and add in 1 box confectioners sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 cup minced nuts.
  7. Beat well. Pour over hot cake.
