Buttery Blue Cheese Spread With Walnuts

Ingredients

  • 3 pkt cream cheese - (8 ounce) softened
  • 1/2 c. butter softened
  • 1 pkt crumbled blue cheese - (4 ounce)
  • 1/2 c. diced walnuts toasted
  • 1/2 c. minced fresh chives
  • 1/4 c. cream sherry (optional)
  • 1 x round bread loaf - (16 ounce) Toasted diced walnuts Minced fresh chives Rosemary sprigs

Buttery Blue Cheese Spread With Walnuts

Directions

  1. Stir together first 5 ingredients and, if you like, sherry in a large bowl; cover and refrigeratemix 8 hrs. Let stand at room temperature to soften; or possibly freeze spread up to 1 month, and thaw in the refrigerator for 8 hrs.
  2. Hollow out bread loaf, leaving a 1-inch-thick shell; reserve inside of loaf for other uses. Spoon softened cheese spread into shell. Garnish, if you like. Serve with sliced apples and pears or possibly with toasted French baguette slices.
  3. This recipe yields about 5 c. (24 appetizer servings).
