Directions

  1. To begin on this seared Ahi tuna steak recipe, first season your tuna steaks with some salt and cayenne pepper to taste. My husband prefers to use yellow tail tuna steaks when it’s his turn to cook as these are his absolute favorite. How much salt you put in this recipe is really up to you. When my parents come over, I cut down the salt and only use one teaspoon.
  2. Next, melt the butter and the olive oil into a skillet placed over medium high heat. Cook your peppercorns in this mixture for about five minutes until they have softened and begin to pop. If you need to cook the pepper corns longer, be sure to do so just as long as they come out right. My husband sometimes cooks them longer than five minutes and they taste great thereafter.
  3. Place the seasoned tuna gently into the skillet and allow it to cook to the doneness that you desire. I prefer mine rare so I cook them for one and a half minutes on each side. Be sure to keep the heat low enough such that your kitchen doesn’t fill up with smoke.
  4. Serve hot.

Tuna is one of the many fishes that I enjoy. I haven't tried this but it sounds delicious!
