Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground chuck.
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 package taco seasoning, or 1 1/2 - 2 tbs. Tex-Mex Diablo Dust
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp. cumin powder
- 1 cup salsa
- 1 cup sour cream, divided
- 1 - 16 oz. can pinto beans, rinsed, or 2 cups homemade (see links)
- 8 oz. tomato sauce
- 2 cups pepper jack cheese, or sharp cheddar
- 4-5 cups crushed your favorite flavored tortilla chips ( I like nacho flavor)
- Garnish: chopped cilantro

Tex-Mex Taco Bake
Time: 5 minutes prep, 30 minutes cook
Servings: 6
Directions
- Heat oven to 350 F.
- Cook onions with beef, drain.
- Add salsa, tomato sauce, 1/2 of the sour cream, seasonings and beans to the beef.
- In a baking dish (2 quart), layer chips, some cheese, beef mix, then more cheese.
- Bake 25 minutes.
- Top with dollops of sour cream and chopped cilantro.
