Steak and Onion Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs. stew meat
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • dash of ginger
  • dash of allspice
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 cup sliced onions
  • 2 1/2 cups hot water
  • 2 cups potatoes, diced
  • 1/2 recipe plain pastry

Steak and Onion Pie

Time: 20 minutes prep, 2 hours cook
Servings: 6
 

Directions

  1. Roll meat in mixture of flour, salt, pepper, paprika, ginger and allspice.
  2. Brown in hot oil.
  3. Add onions and cook until light yellow.
  4. Add water, cover and simmer until meat is tender. About 1 1/2 hrs.
  5. Heat oven to 450 degrees
  6. Add potatoes and turn into a greased shallow casserole.
  7. Cover with the pastry and bake in oven for crust is nicely browned, about 20-25 minutes
