Hello Kathleen...I was kind of on the fence about making a comment...so here it is.
There's been only one time I was served a sidedish of this vegetable. Obviously and unfortunately for me the person maybe did not know how to cook it properly. All I can remember is the slimy texture. I just never forgot the feeling. Hence, the complete disinterest since then.
After having read your post...it's as if we are talking about two different Okra.
I just may decide to make this dish myself and keep an open mind.
I'll be speaking to my veggie grocer about the quality factor for non-slimy possibility.
Thank you for having me re-evaluate my misgivings.
    Flavourful wishes, Claudia

Claudia, this okra was frozen. Maybe that made the difference. The last time it prepared frozen, sliced and did notice some slime while cooking but not upon serving. It seems that once it is cooked and allowed to set for a few minutes, there is literally no slime, in both cases. I am very interested to learn what advice the grocer offers. Thank you for the review!
