Ingredients
- 50 g butter
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 2 tbs wine vinegar
- 150 ml water
- 1 tbs mustard
- 2 tbs demerara sugar
- A thick slice of lemon
- A pinch of cayenne pepper
- 2 tbs Worcestershire sauce
- 6 tbs tomato ketchup
- 2 tbs tomato puree
- ¼ tsp ground pepper

Spicy tomato and onion sauce
Time: 10 minutes prep, 25 minutes cook
Servings: 6 servings
Directions
- Melt the butter in a pan, and sauté the onion and garlic gently for 2-3 minutes.
- Stir in vinegar, water, mustard, sugar, lemon, and cayenne. Bring to the boil, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Stir in the remaining ingredients, season to taste with pepper, and cook for a further 5 minutes.
- Remove the lemon before serving.
