Spicy Shrimp Wrapped In Snow Peas Recipe

  • 20 x uncooked large shrimp peeled, deveined
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped fresh ginger
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil
  • 1 lrg garlic clove pressed
  • 1/2 tsp Chinese five-spice pwdr
  • 20 lrg snow peas stringed
  • 1 tsp oriental sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp sesame seeds toasted
  • 2 Tbsp. reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 20 sm wooden skewers or possibly toothpicks

Directions

  1. Combine shrimp, ginger, vegetable oil, garlic and five-spice pwdr in medium bowl; toss to blend. Cover and chill at least 1 hour and up to 4 hrs.
  2. Bring medium pot of salted water to boil. Add in snow peas; cook just till crisp-tender, about 45 seconds. Drain. Rinse with cool water. Drain; pat dry. Transfer to bowl. Drizzle sesame oil and sesame seeds over; toss to coat. Set aside.
  3. Heat large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add in shrimp mix and saute/fry 3 min. Add in soy sauce; stir till shrimp are just opaque in center and liquid evaporates, about 1 minute. Transfer to plate and cold completely.
  4. Wrap 1 snow pea lengthwise around each shrimp from head to tail. Secure with skewers. (Can be prepared 6 hrs ahead. Cover and chill.) Serve slightly chilled or possibly at room temperature.
  5. This recipe yields 20.
